DR is all three....but like yourself, definately a good friend.

Marc W suggested a 12-step program to me once, it involves 11 shots of Bourbon!!! Sounds like a good start on a 12-step program. I'll probably start it at SITM in the guise of my alter ego.....Mr. Bourbon. Any of the 928 International crew going to make it out this year?

Heck, send it to DR for restoration and split the proceeds of the sale. Seems like he has the parts you need anyway.

Regards,
JE,
Trying to make someone elses plate more full than mine......though DR probably has me beat there anyway.

That car doesn't look like it has any frame damage, and taking a black 5-spd Euro 928S off the road for good would be a crime!

Have I convinced anyone yet.

I may be convinced after all! It seems that the concensus is that if I get rid of the Euro, that I am evil and should be publicly flogged . I was kind of looking forward to financing the overhaul of the '86 with the proceeds of the Euro, but obviously you guys think that would be a mistake. I will be giving it serious consideration. Maybe the wife could drive the Euro???? Or if there is someone that would consider partnering up and splitting the profits, that could be another altrnative also. In any event, I am going to give it all some careful thought. I am really impressed by the closeness and the "bend over backwards to help" mentallity that seems prevelant in this forum. You guys make me know that I made the right decision in both buying the 928s and joining this forum!!!

Thanks Again
Chris James

Chris,

From what little I have seen, you got a good deal on the 86 if it was by itself. Restored, the Euro could easily cover the initial investment on your 86, but it would probably cost as much to get it there. I'd call DR because you guys seem to have one of those peanut butter and chocolate destined to become a Resces Peanut Butter Cup kind of star alignments going on here. I can personally vouch for the fact that you will not meet a more honest and dedicated business man than Dave Roberts. I'd stake my reputation on it (errr....well....OK....that ain't saying much ). I'm sure you will get nothing but the same comments from his other customers on this list and even the other great guys at 928 International.

I see a Euro 928S rising from the ashes! Really, in all seriousness, it would be a shame to part that car if it wasn't beyond restoration.
Any 928 for that matter. But what do I know, I need a 928 12-step program.

Chris .....""bend over backwards to help" mentallity that seems prevelant in this forum. You guys make me know that I made the right decision in both buying the 928s and joining this forum!!! " Actually Chris you have just about all that correct except for perhaps ........who is bending and the direction of the bend ......... You also have to appreciate that in this community it is considered "normal" to own 3-4-5 different 928s at one time . To completely take apart a perfectly good running car to "fix it" . And spending $25,000 to fully restore a 1979 or $20,000 to build a big stroker engine is a good idea . Welcome to the club .

The prior owner pulled the front end off the Euro to fix what he thought was the "better car" seems like a lot of effort to reverse what was done but I guess having seen over 500 cars disappear I may tend to look at them a bit differently than most . That one does have "racecar potential" which also shows my bias . So who is going to adopt that puppy ? the one with one foot in the grave .

I'd like to see interior pics before I condem it to Racecar. Looks like a couple thousand in parts to replace the front end and another thousand in paint (less if the body panels procured happen to be black and in good shape already). Sorting out the rest is mostly labor from my experience. But what the heck do I know. I'm nuts. I'm always thinking the glass is half full when it's almost drained.

I keep seeing something like this:

Chris,
Here's a good example...
Glen touched the front of his car on the track... and he needed a front end.
Some people suggested he give up his Euro car but Glen said no way. I caught wind of what happened and had an parts car available w/ the front end he needed. The car was beyond restoration and was in turn parted out. So Glen and I negogiated a win/win situation (w/the help of my father), and within a couple months, Glen was back on the track w/ his Euro ...new paint and all. If I haven't said it before, way to go Glen!
Chris, you will find a good opportunity. You are in a good situation, and will find a win/win for you and another 928 enthusiast. Good Luck!
