Default 81 5spd temporary momentary starter switch

Previous owner started this vehicle every time with thin bladed screw driver(cylinder with key in glove box).I've been fixated on reviving fuel system, which is nearly complete. Instead of screwdriver system how about a momentary toggle switch from Pegasus Racing(off, on , start). Three wires: brown from Batt(using 30 from ignition switch), green to starter solenoid(using using 50 from ignition switch), and a yellow wire to ignition system and other accessories that need to be on when ignition on! would that be 15 from ignition switch? what might be the danger inherent in such a setup? I noted previous owner had spliced in 50 yellow under dash, one continuing on with yellow 50 the other a thin red , which was lopped off after 2 inches. I suspect this might have been intended for relay XIV, as there is a two foot long thin wire rolled up connected to starter bridge laying on floor! Who knows what mischief has been wrought upon the new owner (unintended I'm sure). I'd be interested in hearing and comments and suggestions. Thanks

I did replace original ignition switch with a new one. Also did replace pin connectors. I have a keyed cylinder that seems to work. I haven't as yet located those little pins that lock the cylinder in place. None I received from Porsche or another vendor fit. Why are there two and which goes in first? picture in parts catalogue is not explicit Also, I'm not sure some damage was not done to that little toothed gear or bone colored lobe. I sent a few pics of the back of the cylinder housing to a few Porsche guys who said they weren't sure it looked right! So, till I sort that issue out I thought why not by pass that for now while I finish up fuel system refurbishment! Your response is a reasonable one and I appreciate the reply.

OK - In the interim a momentary starter switch between (30) battery positive and (50) Starter Solenoid will work to operate the starter - you will need a push momentary switch capable of ~30A (or pref. better)

The starter solenoid current has an initial peak then drops during sustained starter running. I'd take this to be a temporary situation even a 30A switch will not like this in the long run.

if the Pegasus model works as you say then yes you need to connect the run to (15) ignition and also to (X) Accessory. Note that this means you are loading the battery more than the stock set-up does during starting - all the (X) loads are disabled during starting in the stock set-up.

Thanks for the reply and pertinent info. I sure don't want to damage the alternator, relays nor wiring any further so I'll limit it so just a few tests. Thanks so much for your help
