Default Help - fitting engine with new motor mounts

Hi Guys,

As many of you know, this weekend Im fitting my engine (after about 1year of it sitting on a stand).

Ive lowered it in and its now resting on the mounts, but the bell housing isn't lining up correctly (see photos). The lugs that guide the two halves together are about 2 cm out (the engine is too high).

Is this because I have new engine mounts and they take a bit of time to bed in, or is it because Ive fitted the engine mounts around the wrong way? (they looked correct to me compared to the parts diagram).

Any help appreciated - I don't like the engine hanging by a lift for too long!

Todd.

How are the transmission mounts. They too have probably collapsed if original.

Engine is not too high, the TT and upper bell housing are too low. :-) It's sitting on the black metal brace.

You need to lift it - you can use a bottle jack. You may have to put the bottle jack on a couple of 2 by 4's to get it high enough.
