Default Finish or sell project 928s4?

I feel I have to many projects. I bought the 89 s4 as a fire damaged project. I did the following new items
FOE harness
Injectors
FPR
Dampers
Fuel line rebuilds
WP
Timing belt
Porken tensioner
Radiator
Vacuum lines and fittings
MAF
hall sensor
Knock sensors
CPS
Rebuilt flappy
Checked ECUs
used fuel injection harness
All coolant hoses
Temp 1 and 2 sensors

Car needs a final wetsand and buff, new windshield, and then the big one for me is remove and reseal the auto trans and likely just new TT bearings and some sort of super clamp setup.

this car is a very nice car. It for sure is a high quality driver car finished. It has 150k on it with tons of service records before I got it. It currently runs and drives but leaks trans fluid. It's 90% there but with the state of everything going on in our world along with my project load I am thinking this might be a perfect job for someone else to finish up.

Thoughts?

This was a picture of my engine as I was putting it back together. Changed out the FPR and Dampers after this picture.

It sure looks nice! Engine fire I presume? You don't speak of body or interior work... so the damage could not have been that extensive (I'm guessing) Was the project documented here in another thread?
Maybe one of the senior members here will take it on...
Cheers

There is some documentation on other threads here and yes had to repaint the front half of the car. The interior is very nice except the driver front seat bolster needs to be redone.

It's all about ROI. I had the same issue with my ex-90GT.

How much was I going to net if I sold it as a project versus finishing the project.

In my case it was close enough that selling the GT as a project left the same profit in my pocket. (Until GT prices went up up up - good for Glenn though)

Very true. I could net more as finished but part of it is the anxiety of all the projects.

with the higher miles and the fire in the engine bay,
you would be better off fixing it and keeping it.
ROI will be quite diminished IMHO

So, how much are you asking for it?

mileage but the fire? You can't even tell there was a fire aside from me telling you that.

Great question. I don't know. The market is crazy and all over the place. I would think this is 12k car or around there as it sits. Maybe a bit less? Not sure. I will likely finish it but if not I would start there.

Leaky trans is a PITA-
My 89 was a big leaker-
Can you determine where the leak is coming from?
Have you tried any additives?
There is a good video showing all the potential leak points for an A28/16 trans-

It leaks from the torque converter grate for sure. What is most interesting is it only does it in reverse. I have not tried additives yet. I do also have to reconnect vacuum line from the trans to the t.. I need to look at those videos though.

That's going to be a really nice car once completed.

In my opinion, no one buys a 928 for the future resale value. They buy the car because they love it. Instead of asking "is it worth painting the car and finishing it up", ask yourself:

Do I love the car enough to keep putting money into it?

Can I afford to do so?"

Will my wife and kids still love me if I continue down this rabbit hole?

If the answers are yes, yes, and yes, then keep going.
