First Impressions: The 1985 Euro S

Rich I still don't get how you'd fire off a 4 terminal distributor. Unless of course it had three caps, which would be consistent with German over engineering.
>> The 911s that have two sparkplugs per cylinder have two distributors, each with six plug distributor caps ... so each distributor fires one "set" of spark plugs. The Porsche 928 Euro from '84 to '86 use two 4 plug caps ... this is the difference. When the 32 valve motors came to be, the 4 plug distributor caps were moved to the front of the cams.
... one thing to check on Euros is the belt that drives the "second" distributor. If it is worn (or broken) it can cause trouble.

The single pipe exhaust and cat will also make the footwells and transmission tunnel hotter than hell, and adds heat load to the cooling system. I noticed this after 20 minutes or so on the highway. But a black car with a black interior...thought it was just heating up from the sun.
Put a twin pipe exhaust on and it ran cooler and the trans tunnel and footwells cooled way down. The car breathed a nearly audible sigh of relief.

If the power is falling off around 4K, it's probably your exhaust. My '85 Euro did the same thing with the single-pipe/cat '84 system it came with. A quick fix is to use a complete '85-'86 twin pipe system including the twin cats. The car will be a lot happier with this setup, and it's available used pretty cheaply. The car really likes the Euro front resonator in place of the cat, but they're pretty hard to come by.

Also - consider deleting the belt driven fan and smog pump and go electric.
WONDERFUL AUTOMOBILE!
