Default Upper window seal & guide source?

Took a nice and quick ride through the mountain highways with the windows down. The wind blast had its way with the 38 year old window seal/guide and I had a streamer hanging off of the car when I got home! Who out here carrys the aforementioned seals?
As always, thanks.

I bought one from Roger or 928 international. It was almost $300 and a bear to install but worth it. It will last another 40 years. Think about it like buying a good tire

The little guide is like $5, but that seal is $300 as mentioned above and only available through Porsche unfortunately.

I got OEM one from Roger; its not so much a pain as a little tedious; people keep me correct but I think you have to remove the upholstery panel that goes around the top part of the window on the inside...when I removed mine some of the metal clips holding the panel to the door remained in the door..I had a harder time dealing with that personally than the window seal...and I still have one or two clips that broke loose again.

The upper window guide is the one at least on mine that when I was in there poking around had space worn into it that was letting the window bang back and forth when you close the door or have the windows partially down and go over bumps or fast enough for the wind to knock it around...I took a couple plastic zip ties to take up the space worn into the guide and gave the guide pole a coating of heavy axle grease...works great now...shutting door with window down it sounds and feels like a vault door no banging window noise.I went with 2 zip ties...did 3 and too tight...no disassembly of the window mechanism needed... Credit to MrMerlin

Since you'll be taking the door panel off to give attention to the window guide get a full set of door panel retention clips (or whatever they are called) and replace all of them..including the ones that don't disintegrate. There is info by searching on Google that tells which color go where...there are black and white ones Might also want to consider door armrest reinforcement kit. I think I got mine from 928 Int'l....I wound up also fixing the upholstery where it was coming loose from where it wraps around the top of the door panel that goes against the window with some adhesive specially for that sort of thing..kind of stays pliable...smells like model airplane glue...scope creep galore for sure ...but when I got done I had a nicely restored original panel with reinforced armrest that is now serviceable. Very happy with results.

Replacing those Nylon guides with new and the rubber isolator at the bottom makes a huge difference compared to the zip ties I used for years. Not too expensive and not to difficult a job

Do you have to take the glass out to replace the upper guide?

No need to remove glass. The motor mechanism will probably hold it up by itself, but for safety just prop it from below with a couple of wood pieces. After removing two bolts holding tube to top of door frame and the bolts on each guide you can pull out the entire tube.

Default Tangent?

What I was referring to is the soft seal/ guide that captivates the top and rear edge of the windows when they are in full up position. All of the door parts are fine except for the rubber seal along the top exterior of the door. That's what I need. Since I'll be "in there" I will need the bottom exterior seal as well. WHO GOT EM?

Sorry misunderstood when someone referred to guide tube.

Window stays in door fully retracted when you install upper seal.

I replaced my seal recently as the channel at top and side had widened like yours. New seal eliminated the wind noise from that area.

Roger has them, Mark has them, Porsche has them.

Upper door seals 928 537 323 03 and 928 537 324 03, left and right.

Lower outer seals (be careful, sometimes Porsche ships 2 rights instead of a left and a right. Or is it two lefts? Can't remember...)

928 537 321 04 and 928 537 322 04

Some of the metal clips on the upper door frame upholstery surround came off on mine too. I used an old soldering iron to soften the plastic with the clip set back in place and allowed the plastic to flow back up through the three holes then flattened it back down like the non-broken clips. This got the surround back in with all clip points and one messy old soldering iron.

Guides..dont have to remove glass, bit be aware of what you disconnect as you go.

Walstar: If you havent, its a good time time R&R the window guides (2 per side) CLEAN the vertical guide bar, and this little guy that people miss a lot, that MAY be dead, but why not refresh it anyways:

A tight rattle free door is SO nice...
