For the benefit of those who helped me so immensely, JE; MarkA and JimB; and DonH.... here's the nearly finished result. I installed (finally) that new centre console Int'l sent me 9 months ago. Still have to wrap Rob Budd's leather over the a-pillars and instal the sunroof frame, and a few small things here and there to be done, but I am very pleased so far.
'87 5spd, leather everywhere. Now that is an interior I can drive in!!

You'll get a lot of driving pleasure from that. Mine could use some work. Is that a GTS **** and boot on the stock shifter?

Heinrich,

Looks very nice. Did you put the dash cover on yourself or did a shop do it? All you need is the pod cover now!

Wow! Do you mean to say that it's a "new" leather dash, pod and center console from Porsche? That must of cost more than the car itself. Please tell us more!! More pics too...

The interior used to be 100% burgundy, and the only leather parts were the seats. Doors had aftermarket crappy speakers, vinyl was loose, dash was cracked in some 250 places, some big enough that I found several lost radar detectors in them Seats used to be 8way.

Now she has sport seats (928 ones); perforated leather doors; everything leather and what isn't leather is going to be leather; rear shoulder belts; rear ac delete and saddle added; as stated new Porsche leather dash, pod, centre console; and I refreshed all the little vacuum thingies. Also replaced carpet. However, clearly the console sides need replacing and I'll fab them soon. The glove box door is leather but I could't find an unwarped one. Parcel trays; doors, ceiling, armrest handles; quarters (perforated); sunroof frame; etc all leather. Btw that frame ... very hard to find a leather one in good shape. Impossible I think at this point. I'll go find some before pics ... not pretty. As for the car itself, it is worthy. A very strong 5spd. My favourite car.

Flott no, no money here. When I started this project 2 years ago, there was no Rob Budd. ANd I lost some money trying to buy ebay parts, with ppl ripping me off passing cracked vinyl off as leather, so I called Mark Anderson one day and he sold me the dash. Next I discovered that there was no way a vinly pod could live on that dash, so I called Mark, and a second Porsche box arrived. When I got that installed it was clear I could not live with the recoloured centre console I had (it was perfect, but different grain) ... I went through 4 consoles, and they are filling my study at this point. So I called Mark again. And another Porsche box arrived. Inbetween all this, I had got several small leather pieces from DonH; and JE and I had done a major amount of trading, which got me much of the rerst of the interior. Then I went and tore the carpet out of a local parts car. And so it went .....
