Default Squeaking Fan

A few weeks ago there was a thread about squeaking fans but I can't seem to find it now. My fan is driving my crazy lately as it seems to be getting worse. Please correct me if I'm wrong: There is a small fan pulling air through the small opening on the front of the dash over the temp sensor? That is where my squeak/squeal seems to be coming from. My question is: Is there a way to disconnect this fan easily? Even temporarily (pull a fuse)? What effect would it have on the way the A/C works with it disconnected?

Thanks!

I don't know if the little fan inside the interior temperature sensor is big enough to make a squeak. Are you sure it's coming from there? The main fan for the HVAC system is right behind it. Try turning the fan speed up and down to see if it affects the squeak. If it does, then your problem is with the main fan.

The thread you're refering to was started by me. Several people posted that they had removed the main blower fan that resides under the black plastic piece under the hood, over the firewall. Once the fan is out many stated that a good cleaning and lubricating fixed the squeak. To remove it, most stated that you need to remove the hood. To me that means it's more than a "driveway" project.

It probably is the main fan then. The noise is coming from right behind the temp sensor. It is fan speed sensitive and actually gets less annoying the higher the fan speed.
