Ok, Had a great time at hershey, saw many nice 928's. Shopped around a little and genraly had a blast. Saw a lot of part I didn't need but took interset in. One in particular was an instrument cluster. Anyway. I was returning today and noticed that I odometer and trip quit. Boy, am I teed. I had the oppertunity to buy used parts at great prices, but at the time I didn't need any of them. Anyway, I have no odometer or trip, they don't record the miles and must be stuck. Anyone have this problem. I need to know if it is possible to repair the current odometer or would it just be easier to get a used one and replace it. I have yet to pull apart the pod and find the problem.
Michael - More than likely you have a broken odometer gear (very common problem on the 928). I just had mine break and replaced it with a new one from Rennbay . These guys are very helpful and gear was shipped quick! I used the following link (944 Odometer gear replacement ) as a guide. The 944 and 928 gear replacement are basically identical. Also, check out the Nichol's site for tips on removing the pod and replacing the odometer gear. Good Luck!
Mike,
Did you per chance try to clear the trip meter while on the move?
Wether you did or not is academic.
Before replacing the gear try recycling the trip re-set several times while at the stop.
If that doesn't work try resetting while creeping.
One or the other worked for me. If neither attempt works.
Use the search feature and hunt down odometer/trip meter repairs.
Someone posted a step by step - flicks included - repair procedure that was absolutely Primo.
Good luck.

John, yes I did try clearing the trip several times. I stopped at a rest area and tired several times, stopped, coasting, and when on the turnpike at highway speed. It didn't seem to work.
Paul D, and Travis, Thanks for the information sites, they prove to be very helpful, if indeed my gear has broaken. It looks very simple to replace. I just need to find the time now.
Thanks again everyone.
Michael, It was gorgeous day. Another 928er and myself were having a mutual (car) admiration society meeting when somebody walked by, probably a 944 owner, who said, "I coulda had a V8!!" , one of the high points of the day.
Yes, Hershey was great! Couldn't have been any better. I found out a lot of great information about how to do an alignment on the 928 myself by talking to captearl. He had that silver GT, boy did he do a nice job restoring that car. A lot of nice 928's out there, I only stayed for about five hours then I was off to the Spring Carlise for a look around and tools. Sure beats the rain. I can't wait for next year. One more thing, I saw a pair of seats from a '96 Boxter for $850.00, will those seats fit into a 928? The electrical contacts are similar, but are the mounting holes on the rails the same?
