I can really relate to this thread.
We installed a fairly high end system (mostly JL audio, with a Breman head unit), in the "Hellblau" project car and had noise.
Head unit turned off or on.
Made us crazy...days and day of fussing about.
Tried every tip we could find....without any result.

Im not sure what to say, I have a lot of HW installed, not a whisper..HU up front on OE power and grounds, the rear has two amps that feed from the battery, with line level Front left/right and a trigger running to the back.
Also a BT receiver, but that feeds via optical to isolate it from any noise as well.
And a Chinesium Porsche classic head unit.

Got the Xtrons unit and before I did any rewiring I just plugged it in. Turns out the Chinese stereos all share the same wiring, so no need to resolder and shrink wrap again. Also, no more noise, and that's with the wires running behind the ECU's. Turns out that both previous head units had similar noise issues. Also before the amp would still power on even when the ground wasn't hooked up with both head units, while with the Xtrons it doesn't happen. Sounds like the previous head units would allow the amp to ground out through the audio wires. Maybe that has something to do with the engine noise coming through the speakers?
