Does the engine have to be lifted to install headers?

They are a royal pain in the ...... but lifting the engine a bit and pushing it side to side helps gain access to the exhaust studs . It is not much fun unless you like " building a ship in a bottle " . It is however a wonderfull "bonding experience" with your car and the results for the 16 valve help make it worthwhile .

Thanks for the reply. This car belongs to a friend of mine. It has been sitting for 6 years and I got it running again. The fuel system was all gummed up and the pump under the tank was seized. The second pump is intermittant wo we are replaceing that also. So anyway - he has coated headers for the car - but my suspicion was that it would be a pain and I was right. I am going to have him find someone else to do it.
