What I saw when I looked at the machine the local Sears had (I think it was a Hunter DSP600, but could be wrong) was that the car was rolled up onto the alignment plates on a ramp, but there were hydraulics underneath which the tech attached to the jacking points and then lifted the car. Not sure why that's necessary but it's what he did. Can I just tell them to skip that or...?

I explained the suspension settling issue to the tech, and they had no problem just rolling it onto the plates, no lifting necessary. A little more work for them, but better than me coming back in 50 miles for them to re-do my bad alignment.
