When I bought it, I had a reputable shop that had worked on it for years do a bunch of stuff.

I plan on doing all the belts and seals that are part of this job plus a flush of the brake fluid and of course the coolant gets replaced as part of this plus an oil change. The air pump was removed when headers were installed and it doesn't have AC so I think that removes the concern for accessory belts.

I thought the water pump was about $300 or $400 and I expected a mark up. I was shocked at what the other place quoted me.

It sounds like the quote isn't out of line. Thanks for the feedback!

Jeff The only for sure way to know if you have bent valves is to restring the belt and take a compression test.and or do a leak down test
That said I would consider every engine an interference engine past 1980.

Follow the above procedure to determine if the heads need to come off. (This could be true for early engines too)

I charge 1600.00 labor for the TB and WP, oil pump reseal and front main seal and tensioner rebuild.
add on parts could be up to 2 K or more ,
Last I checked the new Laso is about 350.00, and the belt is about 65.00 ,new cam gears were 800.00 for the set ,
now aftermarket are 400.00 for both, oil pump steel gear is 150.00, drive gear 90.00
plus any other parts like pivot bolts and bushings, bearings and boots and clamps and gaskets and seals and coolant.
I have put on over 30 Laso pumps and no comebacks,
I found only 1 with a casting failure that was caught before it was installed.
