John, what check valve do you have in the system and what is the AN size of the hoses?

Marc,

I'm using a 6.25" old style Canton spinon filter assembly. It has a built in check valve, so the end cap is tapped with a 1/2 npt thread. This way the accusump can only feed in the proper direction.

I use a -10 feed line. My 3 qt. accusump cyl. is mounted aft of were the back seat use to be. This is my third season with this setup.

Should be better next year since I hope to put a drysump setup on the new motor.

My theory has been:

German tracks (that I know of) run clockwise, so do other Euro tracks. The decision to place the cam breather hoses on the right side was made because that would keep slosh and mist pushed in the direction of the closed valve cover for hard banking. The only thing that doesn't gel with this theory is the fact that windage splashes onto the right head, not left. So, my thought is to swap the breathers. OK I know, this is irrelevant because it isn't pertinent to the fact that John proves we have left-hand banking problems. Bottom line, I just don't think the expectation was that we'd be doing that much hard-left banking in the 928.

Yes, a theory. I'm planning on modding the cam breathers to spill oil back in from the driver's side (US), but again that does not solve the real proble. Personally I don't think there is a solution -- just mitigating steps we can take. The accusump is one. Probably (as I've surmised before) the best nonsolution is a dry sump.

Hi Mark,
there are quite a number of Labs that carry out UOAs - one follows;

Blackstone Laboratories

Fort Wayne
IND 46806 (260)744-2380

bstone@blackstone-labs.com

I think they charge about $25

Please contact me off-board if you have any difficulty and I will assist

If you do get a UOA done I can interpret it for you if required

Regards
