Default ABS issue

It’s always something, that’s what I love about these cars
I accidentally grounded the large wire next to the PS reservoir that goes to the ABS unit, and then had the ABS light on the dash.
i checked the fuse, and replaced the ABS sensor, but the light is still on the dash.
where should I check next? Is there another fuse in the system?
i grounded the wire to the brake line, if that matters
Any help is appreciated
Brent

check the abs fuse ,
then replace the abs relay on the CE panel.
NOTE disconnect the battery before touching the ABS wire next to the PS tank

Retest the relay? What terminals do I check?
or do you mean hook up the battery and start the car again to see if the light is still on

Sorry for the late reply, been on a project deadline and no time to play in the garage
UPDATE. Hooked up the battery and started the car, purrs like a kitten, but the antilock light is still on

also an unrelated issue popped up, I now have a major leak from the front of the transaxle.
not sure if it’s related that I just completed a vacuum line refresh also.
need to get it up on ramps to see where the leak is coming from, but not enough time this weekend

There is no fuse in that ABS feed wire - so you may have just melted it away. Carefully check you still have battery voltage on the ABS wire there?
If it seems not - check for continuity between the ABS wire and the jump post. Be very careful around this post - it is just as dangerous as the jump post - but without such a good cover.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll. Check if the fat wire is still hot and trace back if not
i thought it came from the starter though

It does come from the starter, but the connection from the jump post goes to the starter and on to the battery too - so this is by far the easiest way to test the integrity of that connection.

I feel the pain on ABS wire we just had one in that had that wire chopped by power steering belt snapping, cut through 12v feed wire and shorted to block. Was nearly on fire. Hopefully won’t have your ABS light issue. Note down that side a little back ABS wire come through from a front wheel to a connector. My personal 86.5 had badly brittle bare ABS sensor wires shorting to brake pipes causing ABS light. May be that as they are easily disturbed when in that area and very well hidden.

Power to the fat wire to the ABS is confirmed, still have the antilock light on the dash.
fuse and relay are both new
What’s the next step? Checking the wires to the wheel sensors?
system was good until I grounded the wire
