Cross-Member Confusion
I have two drive trains on the floor next to my 928 but can't piece the correct combination to get it all back together.
I have a 1979 928 Euro with a 5-Speed. The G28/03 tranny that was in it is old and very tired and I am installing a fresher G28/05 with a LSD.
In preparation for the swap, I bought the shorter Torque Tube and a later cross member, but it appears that I didn't get the cross member right.
The cross member that came out of my car is 928.331.131.13 and what I bought is 928.331.131.17 The newer one has the exhaust hanger tabs cast in, but that is the only difference I can see or measure. The offset of the tranny mount tabs appears unchanged between the two.
So I am still looking for a cross member, and would appreciate it if someone can let me know what part numbers have the correct dimensions for putting that G28/05 in my '79.
Much appreciated!

Auto-D: Thanks again for the info. Can you add to that: What year cars had those even-number X-Members? I assume it is 5-speed only, but I saw a discussion that implied ...18 was for an automatic?
