Default fuel pump relay issues

Hi everyone I picked up another shark. a 1983s model I also have my 82 euro 5 speed with kjet injection. I drove the 83 that has L jet about a hundred miles home and it ran pretty good. I started looking at the vacuum lines and noticed they were all messed up.I started reading the manual and have tried hooking them up. I'm not sure if I got them all correct but around the same time the fuel pump went out. I installed a new one and filter but now the car will not run with the fuel pump relay installed. I jumped the relay and it seems to flood the car but if I remove the jumper and leave the relay out it will start and run for a bit. I tried another relay that I had but it didnt work either, any ideas on where I should go next would be great. Thanks in advance.

The diagram under the hood is the best as a reference for the vacuum hoses. I would look at that to see where they go.

As for it flooding, pull off the vacuum lines to the damper and regulators and see if fuel comes out. Most likely they have failed and are leaking fuel straight into the intake.

Very rarely does an L jet computer actually fail. They're pretty dumb but very strong (low impedance vs high impedance injector drivers) compared to the LH computers.

Thanks I will check that out. The dampners
are pricey.

Ok I checked the damper and regulators and no fuel is leaking back. I can jump the relay and it will start but I have to remove the jumper while it runs if I put therelay back in it will stall.I mentioned that the vacuum lines were a mess and I have been sorting them out. I noticed that on the passenger side of the air intake there is a couple plugs where The vacuum limiter should be and it looks like they have been there a long time. I drove this car about a hundred miles when I brought it home and it ran pretty good, The problems started when I began sorting the vacuum lines and replaced the fuel pump. So again it will start after jumping the relay stall if I put it back in and if I pull the jumper off while running it keeps running if I put the jumper back in while running it will stall as well. What am I missing.
