Hello George,
We thank you for purchasing your item from our store.
We regret to inform you that the carrier has misplaced your item. At this time we have no more in stock, for that reason we will proceed to open a claim immediately. Meanwhile, we will provide you with a full refund. It would not be appropriate to keep your funds if the carrier could not make the delivery. If you have any questions please let us know, we will be happy to help.
Thanks

This seller is selling a lot of stuff and correctly shipping it to the right customer while playing the odds with questionable tactics on others.
IMO this is a plan put in place to increase margins.
The simple fact is eBay is collecting fees that are far in excess of the refunds that are giving out.
Even if they deduct the amount of the refunds from the seller fees they collect from this seller, they are both making a lot of money with very little effort.
A great plan if you get away with it, which in this case, they are.
If you open a claim with eBay there's a good chance you will get a refund.

Received refund-
I wonder what was mailed to the incorrect addresses?
I would think it had to be something since it showed delivery.
Very scammy way of getting out of a sale.
I never experienced that before on ebay.

I believe that the seller did not want to ship the items so he sent each of us a a tracking number from someone that had made a purchase from them. Mine was said to be shipped FedEx (Could not track on FedEx using that number) but in reality it was shipped USPS (But to someone in Oregon cause I checked the number on USPS site and had my post office check the number also). So there was really no shipment made at all just the appearance that it was. Should have come clean with the buyers and maybe offered some kind of discount /credit. After all it was not our mistake and they should have been reviewed before submitting. This was just a bad way to go about getting out of the sale. I guess what is done is done, I just haven't gotten my $$ back yet.

I don't have a dog in the fight, but here's hoping you and the others report this to eBay and they bounce him off the platform. If you do contact them, I'd include the URL for this thread as a ref.

Seems to violate what is called the Uniform Commercial Code that regulates purchases.
Seller isnt operating in good faith, instead dangling clearly too good to be true offer as an advertising ploy and traffic builder. And/or margin enhancer.
Reminds me in some respects of that Fine kid out of Philly a few years ago who was running east coast 928 parting business, delighting some (who sung his praises) while intentionally and openly screwing the rest to build margin. Though seems the Ebay guy is more subtly just building hits with the lowball.
Though here you all knew better, in that a deal too good to be true...usually is.

This seller has over 330,000 items listed for sale and sells over 300 items per day. That's $300,000 per month going to the sellers bank.
As we know profit margins on eBay have eroded over the last few years due to competition, shipping costs, and fees.
eBay now gets between 10 and 15% of the sales price including shipping costs for every item sold.
That comes to $30,000 in fees paid to eBay. And eBay now has the agreement to draft the sellers bank account for those fees.
So the seller gets your money and eBay gets their money pretty easily.
The practice of selling at a "too good to be true" price and non delivery had been common place when an eBay ID had been hijacked.
The hijacker would soon disappear with the cash after making a killing with the hijacked ID.
The original seller would get a new ID and try to salvage what he could.
IMO some sellers have started sprinkling their offerings with some "to good to be true" prices and suffering a few emails and refunds to increase their slim margins.
It could be only 10% of the totals.
With hundreds of transactions for small amounts, and the amount for felony theft increasing, there's no real incentive to fix the problem.
