Question Windshield marks

Have any of you seen marks on a windshield like the circled ones in the picture below? I've scrubbed on both the inside and outside and they remain. They don't seem to be on either surface. There isn't any damage I can see or feel on the inside or outside surface either. I'm thinking this must be some kind of delamination. I don't recall if these were there when I brought the car home 10 years ago or not. I suspect they were. Let me know what you think.

Thanks Speedtoys. I didn't know that was possible. I'll have to give that a try.

This is going to sound nuts, but get some 0000 steel wool and rub that on those spots, dry. It will not scratch the glass, but it may remove that stuff if it's on (and not in) the glass.

^^ 0000 steel wool is the best thing I have found for glass and polished metal when you need to remove something from it.

It removes dried tree sap from glass like nothing else and even removes carbon buildup on the exhaust of my A3 TDI with little effort.

Just pick some up at the hardware store and use it when needed.

0000 works well but don't forget to lubricate as you are doing it. I use either glass cleaner Griot's dry wash liquid

Thanks Speedtoys, Rob, Blake and Vanster. The 0000 steel wool worked like a champ. I would not have thought of that or polishing to fix this. On one of my daily's, I'd just get the windshield replaced when it had enough issues to annoy me. That's a bit more painful in the wallet on a 928 windshield with an integrated antenna. Too bad this trick won't work on my ugly dash and pod.

I'm going to try the polishing that Speedtoys suggested on the entire windshield to see what it takes out. I watched a video on doing that and it didn't seem to require all that much trouble.
