I spent the weekend fixing melted wiring left to me by the previous owner(s). While buttoning things up, I've ended up with a pair of wires that I'm unsure about. This is in the left front fenderwell. One wire is brown and the other is white with a green stripe and they have female spade connectors on them. I've accounted for the other lights on that side (blinker, side marker, front running/parking light) and they now work. I believe I can see them in the picture of the burnt wiring but can't tell what it was hooked to. Do any of you have an idea where it is supposed to go? The wires with the round connector for the air duct temp sensor are also accounted for.
This creative side marker wiring was the cause of the short circuit. To make things better, the previous owner(s) tried to fix the issue by replacing the blown fuses with progressively higher amperage ones. I found a couple handfuls of blown fuses underneath the passenger side floor mat. Some were 25 amp fuses that they had put into this 5 amp circuit. Nice work of them.
Here's a picture of it after I patched up the wiring. It's not pretty, but it's functional. I still need to order a used front running/parking light. The original one is working but the pigtail is fairly melted.
