I have searched far and wide to find what color code VM is for a 1982 928. It's some kind of beige I believe, but not sure if it's gray beige, cashmere beige, champagne beige, luxor beige, etc. FWIW, VW shows up as luxor beige on 2015-ish Cayennes.

VM is interior trim in beige partial leather, with leather seats (backrest and sides) and leather seat inlay

I should have added that in 1982 there were only four standard factory interior colors - black, dark blue, brown and beige.

Not really. The 1982 descriptions ("brown", "beige" etc) aren't very helpful when trying to match them against the various newer shades. I've had to resort to getting supplier samples to check if my 1982 "brown" is "natural brown", "dark brown" or "chocolate brown", for instance. You might need to do the same thing.
