Default Steering rack "T" mounting bolts

For those looking to replace the "T" headed bolts for the steering rack, but don't want to pay the high prices or wait the indefinite time for them to ship from Germany, these are the specs:

M8-1.25 x 16mm T-Slot Drop-in bolts. The head is 20mm long by 14mm wide.

They are readily available in several different materials for a few bucks for all four of them. Lots of places carry them. Even Amazon has them in stock.

Question.
Are these welded or fastened in some manor?
I have a couple of broken ones from PO and they seem very tight

They shouldn't be. But, they could have rusted into place. Or, an enterprising mechanic may have welded in regular bolts. Feel around the top of the bolt and make sure that it feels oblong. If so, try giving it a wack on the end of the threaded portion. If you don't care to save the bolt, you can hit it directly. If you need to save it, thread a nut most of the way on and hit the nut.

Worse case, leave them in place and and pull the cross member out for a better look. They really should be just sitting loose in the little u channel.
