Anyone pulled the front crash absorbers?
Looking for BTDT mentoring RE: pulling the
front crash absorbing shocks.
After pulling the front bumper cover and bumper/support beam
I am wondering if the shocks are pre-loaded and is there a safety procedure to prevent a 'SUDDEN' unloading if the shocks are indeed pre-loaded?
Also, does anyone know what that plastic container behind the drivers' side aft -front- splash shield is? Vacuum reservior, maybe?
Other than hoses...how do you remove it as other than a large bolt on the bottom of the critter there are no other retaining straps, or, hardware visible?
TIA

Just take the shocks off. Two cap screws apiece. And I don't think they're preloaded but liquid filled.
The "tennis ball carrier" is a vacuum reservoir. Just the one bolt. The other deal there is the cruise servo. That has wires and vacuum in and a throttle cable out the top. One bolt there as well. (IIRC) No problems in any case.

Glenn,
Thanks!
I was eyeballing those shock bolts
and felt a pang of doubt ... for a change.
Tennisball carrier...aptly put!
Makes you wonder how -or why- they made the critter the way they did.
