Aftermarket cam cover gaskets are either getting smaller or my cam covers are getting bigger.
And the spark plug seal are shrinking, Jennie Craig?
I've used goop before and it is a mess going on and removing it.
I stumbled on a solution that makes all that easy peasy.
I use a dab of super glue. I start at the center. Couple of drops place the gasket and count to 60. Then I do two corners. (Only have two hands) Apply, count to 60. Then on to the other two corners.
Finally, I glue the gasket between the two corners in each end.
And the I do the same for the spark plug seals. Basically in 8 minutes you are ready to place the cam cover in position.
Installation is a breeze - no hanging gaskets to negociate with as you push the cam cover in place.
When they come out there's no black goop or honda bond to remove.

Kevin, thanks for posting. Something I’ll need to on my ‘82 this winter! (Thankfully, already done this spring on my ‘83)

The (an) alternative is to buy the OE gasket (928 104 447 09) from Porsche, in the Porsche bag; they fit perfectly. Why the 'factory' (Porsche doesn't make their own frickin' gaskets....) gasket fits and the Reinz, Elring and other aftermarket ones are too small, I have no idea.

The Dowsil 730 Porsche tells you to use doesn't stick like the Yamabond or equivalent and seals exceptionally well.
But at $160 a tube it is a tough pill to swallow... It was needed for a 944 oil pan job I did and so the 928 gets it as well.
I hope for all our sakes that the superglue lasts! It seems like an easy, cost effective solution.
