Default Vent gunk?

Changing my radio and ran into this ugliness….is this just years of dusk/gunk in vents or should I be concerned. TIA for any help!

This stuff is the decomposing foam from seals on the various flaps and joints in the HVAC box. The HVAC box still seems to work reasonably well even once a lot of this stuff has disappeared. Vacuum it out. If you ever need to take the dashboard out, you can see what might be worth replacing then.

As said before, vacuum it out on both sides. I removed mine when I refurbished/replaced my HVAC box. No issues. Do yourself a favor and route the cables differently, the vent is not the best place for them.
