I had one hell of a battle similar to this many years ago that I'm pretty sure was ultimately resolved by replacing the fuel pump relay.
Helped someone with an '85 that did just that. At operating temp the car would not start. Let it cool it would start..and keep running, but not restart hot. Odd.

F;in relay.

BUT yeah ,
when it comes down to it ,
replacing the running relays one at a time,
usually restores proper running

All Good!
When I first experienced the no start issue when hot I replaced the relay with a new relay and no change!
Fuel dampers was my next change since the dampers were original and still no change.
Upon many recommendations from Adam and others here on Rennlist, I sprayed Deoxit to fuse panel and jumpered fuel pump , went for long drive to get engine hot and tried to restart with success!!
The problem was fuse panel sockets and fuel pump relay. Relay, Relay Relay!!!!!
I'm happy to resolve this issue and appreciate all the suggestions.
These vehicles are awesome to own and drive especially with all the support from Rennlisters.

Now I believe I have a torque tube(bearings) issue, the fun never ends.
Enjoy your 928's and be safe.
