Default throttle body switches

i was working on the cooling system and i decided to pull the intake runners and replace the rubber sleeves on them - while down in the valley i cleaned up some oil - couldn't see where it was actually coming from - nothing looked like it was coming from the head gasket - there was also a small amount down in the throttle body itself - so i'm thinking it's being sucked into the intake from the crankcase ventilation - wasn't that much 2-3 ounces in valley - i later found a bolt missing on the right side rear cam cover plate so it could also have been that - i'll keep an eye on it and see if it re-occurs - anyway while under there i noticed that the throttle closed switch never touches anything when throttle is closed - what exactly does this switch do? - car runs fine - sometimes hard to start when warm - i'm going to look up how to set this switch and the WOT switch above it - just was wondering how important they are - also it seems the cable from the cruise is actually almost what is stopping the throttle at closed position - should it be tighter than the accelerator cable?

The throttle needs to close that switch. It is the idle switch and what tells the computer to run the idle map.

The throttle should be your tightest cable, the cruise control cable should be just a touch slack compared to it.
