Default Kickdown solenoid removal questions

Can the kickdown solenoid be removed with the gearbox in place, and if so, must the gearbox oil be drained?
Thanks
Dawid

I think the model year is ALWAYS relevant, and the box type might be relevant - mine is a 3 speed, and I think it will lose fluid if removed. 4 speed - ??

Yes to replace in situ.

Dont remember about fluid loss. It has an oring seal.

But I think it is well above the majority of fluid in the pan.
