Default Fuel Line Connection Repair

The new to me '88 fuel line suffered a vice grips use and its up to me to repair it.

Plan is to use a tubing cutter to remove the tip, slide the buggered one of, slide a new one on and then use a flaring tool to create the correct bubble flare.

Anyone been there done that who can offer advice on the correct tube flaring tool?

I think you're going to need a plan B. There is not enough straight tube segment for any flaring tool to fixture on.

Belmetric.com sells all the appropriate fittings for our metric fuel line connections. Give them a try and see if you can find what you need

Is there a way to properly flare the fuel line or am I faced with replacing the fuel line?

That looks like my current favorite fuel line. Here's another place to look for parts: https://store.fedhillusa.com/38directory.aspx (I think that's close to a 3/8" line, in the picture and on the car).

For flaring, when making some brake caliper crossover tubes, I used the set here: https://store.fedhillusa.com/flaringtools.aspx

It looks like you can buy the right dies for larger lines but I can tell you from experience that there is not way to make that flaring tool work in the car. The tools that I found that would work in situ were all a little janky looking for my taste.

Good luck

I would cut back, get a length of good donor, and braze it on.

I had an issue with the main delivery pipe into the engine bay many YEARS ago - had to cut and join it underneath. Got a compression joiner with olives from Pirtek, nipped it up under pressure, has never leaked.
