I applaud the groups of people pitching in together to make a project come together sooner than later, and make the finished project accessible to the rest of the owner's for a reasonable rate.
I agree, and once again, I am ready to vote with my money........Rob read your email man......

I had my dash covered in Vinyl and it is really hard to tell if it's leather or vinyl. The upholsterer unfortunately didn't do the greatest job, but the material looks great.
Isn't vinyl the better way to go here and way cheaper? I assume it would not shrink or warp like leather...
I am really interested in pod and armrests as well.
regards,
Sab.

Sab,

Yes, it is cheaper for the material, but the labor is the same. Vinyl would reduce the cost by about 1/3. Some high tech vinyls are more than leather.

The guy I work with refuses to work with vinyl. He's done leather interiors and only leather for his whole career, 25+ years. I once asked him to do one in vinyl and he almost ran me out of his shop.
All the 928 and the other Porsche people that contacted me want leather.

I prefer leather myself. Some vinyls will hold up and look good, but there's nothing like the feel and smell of quality leather, especially when you treat it with the necessary oils.
