What Speedometer Is This?
I came across this video of what appears to be a Japanese market 1980. Besides having a pretty sweet pasha interior it has a speedometer I've never seen before. Is this something Porsche offered for the Japanese market? Is it from something other than a 928? Or just customized by the owner?

I'm going to guess that it's a Japanese rule from back then.
Something similar to the red "55" that the DOT required in the US back then.
Lower red band starts at 50 clicks, goes to 60. That is a bit more than 30 and a bit less than 40 mph.
That would be residential and arterial speed limits.
The upper is 100 clicks. That's about 60 mph (62.5 to be exact). That's highway speed.
I used to go to/through Canada a fair amount and I got used to metric speed limits.
So I thnk this would be to help the driver see what speed he or she is supposed to be going.
Again, just a guess. As ususal, if someone knows better I welcome correction.

Its part number 928 641 967 02 used in Japanese models from '80 to '83. '78 and '79 had different Japan specific speedo. Porsche used to do weird stuff back then. Some was for local legal reasons while others were to offer different language messages in dash etc. I bet it didn't make much financial sense to make about half dozen different versions of instrument cluster each MY.
