Window rebuild project
#18
When I bought 2 x #8 years ago to do my windows they had the correct part nos moulded in (ie a LH and a RH), but they were both the same hand ...still have the dud on the shelf. Ended up tightening the fit with cable ties.

The photos of the motor shaft dislocation might have solved my long-running problem with windows getting stuck. I'll tear into one side before long. Meanwhile, I think I have an old motor in a parts bin so if I do I'll do an autopsy on it first. Thanks very much Scott for these pics!

Finished both sides
Just for finality of this project. Finished the drivers side today after SITM last weekend.
Nothing surprising on the DS. Ended up replacing the motor on the PS due to the missing ball bearing. Tried some other fixes to replicate that but to no avail. Ordered a BMW E24/911 online for $120. This website has their lefts and rights confused, however and sent me a driver side motor. Made it work and it sure is a lot quieter.
New seals make the interior quieter at speed which is nice. Remote door locks are awesome to have - especially when the old system could not be figured out.
windows are fast and smooth now going up and down.
project was well worth the time
now left for the summer:
1) tbelt/water pump
2) hatch lock rebuild and tie in to the remote sys
3) rebuild sunroof just like windows
