Default Coming soon: 1990 928GT for sale

(it's not quite ready which is why it's not in the classifieds, but I wanted to give folks early notice. If this is wrong please accept my apologies and I will make amends.)

After almost 8 years, Dr. Rob's 1990 928GT is going back up for sale. I bought it from him because it would Just Work, and modulo basic operating maintenance, that has been absolutely true.

The car is currently at Paul Overstreet's shop in Gordonsville, VA, after I dropped it off there this afternoon. It's getting a few things done:

1) Timing belt (Rob changed it in 2013 so I am likely over-cautious but it seems a good idea)
2) Alignment
3) PSD service
4) minor bits & pieces

During my ownership, it also visited Stan Kolen and had the clutch sorted and other sundry things addressed. The infamous A/C resistor pack was replaced about a year ago. The fuel and oil lines are all updated. And it also (being very transparent) spent time at the local Euro body shop (Village Body & Paint, Warrenton VA), where the door strakes were removed, the door skins were weld-filled and sprayed/blended, and a few other minor body issues were addressed. I will have paint meter readings available when I get the car back.

The core facts of the car as follows:

1) It has ~121k miles
2) It is *mostly* stock (including the correct D90 wheels and new tires), but has the Motorsports SLC X-pipe and updated high-flow cats. It passed Virginia emissions the last time they were required. I have all the original stock parts, which come with the car.
3) Dr. Rob himself helped me re-map the engine for the improved exhaust flow with the Sharktuner
4) Said Sharktuner plus various other bits and pieces (lift bars, fender service covers, 18" Panamera daily-driver wheels & tires) will be included with the sale
5) New Beru plug leads were installed when I brought the car to Virginia in late 2014. It's done <3k miles since then.
6) It's been recently recharged with R12 and the climate control works great

I will provide a lot of additional detail when the sale is officially ready for delivery but the bottom line is the car is in very nice shape, the body work is excellent, but it's a driver, not a concours special.

When I bought it from Rob, it had around 118k miles. I simply haven't driven it as much as I hoped. It's time for another enthusiast to enjoy it, hopefully someone who has more space and time to use it properly.

As time goes on I will add more photos here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/jvzeqUKda2xe3xSJ9

With the current condition of the car and its up to date maintenance, asking price will be $49k. I am happy to discuss contingent offers in the meantime if you want to have Paul do a PPI while he has the car, no problem with that at all. Just wait for him to address the things I've already flagged, you don't get any extra credit for those :-)

Many thanks for the attention. Apologies if this is not compliant with the rules, I can simply post to Marketplace if need be.

Nice to see pics of this car again- I cut my 928 teeth on this '90 GT and I miss it, it is an extremely well-sorted example and drives as it should. The only thing it needed was to have the rubstrips deleted, which Cardinal has done! I'm happy to answer any questions prospective buyers may have about the car, I still have all my files and pictures from my ownership (2006-2013).

Attached is an unofficial COA for the car. It is accurate but not issued by PCNA. I have ordered an official one but it hasn't arrived yet.

Of note, the car no longer has the rubbing strips, as Rob mentioned.

Beautiful car! Would be all over this if I didn't already have an '89 GT in same color!
Can't wait to see it presented here or elsewhere.

Hi everyone --

I've had a few PMs with some good questions so I thought I'd share the answers to the ones which seemed relevant to the wider audience:

1) Yes, I might list the car on BAT once it's sorted out, but obviously I've given the teaser here if anyone wants to avoid auction shenanigans
2) Interior is black. Dual power memory seats, as shown on the fake COA.
3) The car is very nearly stock. I mentioned the X-Pipes & cats already. It comes with both the CD2 stereo it had when new and the recent Continental Euro-look bluetooth stereo. It also has a replacement rearview mirror w/homelink controls because I hate having remotes rattle around inside the car. OEM mirror also included.
4) Other minor replacement parts I've addressed in my time include the little bushing for the rear hatch release, the A/C resistor pack, plug wires, the fuel line from the pump to the filter, the driver's door gasket, one of the rear marker light housings, the battery ground cable, wiper blades, and possibly one or two other things I've forgotten
5) Tires on the D90 rims are Toyo T1R, 225/50 F & 245/45 R, purchased September 2018 and barely driven since
6) Tires on the Panamera 5-spoke 18" wheels are Hankook Ventus S1 noble2, 245/40 F and 265/35 R, purchased April 2014

Thanks all for the inquiries!
