Bought in 2002 from Mark, installed in 2003. To day, 18 yr.s & 30K miles later, the pump is still working flawlessly. Pulled it out for inspection and possible replacement last year. Tried hard to find a reason for replacement but could not find one. The pump felt as good as new, no play in bearings, spinning smoothly and quietly. Back in she went, after cleaning up the housing a bit.

Obviously, somebody knew how to rebuild them properly so they would work and last as long as new ones.
Had that knowledge been lost ???
I too got a rebuilt water pump from Mark in 2003 and still working fine in 2023 but I don't remember if it was metal or plastic impeller. Actually my Conti Timing belt was replaced at the same time in 2003 so both are around 20 years old.

Depending on the mileage, those belts might be in good shape but starting to show dry rotting. Mine (original Porsche) were in pristine condition when looking at them, but (specially the accessory belts) showed rotting when twisting them from the inside after about 18 years. I suggest replacement.

Default Newer EPDM belts don't crack but shed

Belt produced after 2000 were EPDM belts lasting lay onger than Porsche belts installed during the 80s. EPDM belts don't crack but shed rubbers
I've saved so much on timing belt replacements, I can afford an engine rebuild. In case it snaps. Car stays in a garage in southern California.

Mine was installed in 2005… regardless, nothing lasts forever, and rubber components will deteriorate (even if they look good… just twist and see the cracks). In my case the car ran perfectly, but decided that after 18 years and maybe 10k miles, preventative is better than dealing with the alternative. Remember that the valves and cylinders are super pricey (not to mention the labor).
