Default Alarm flasher

Does this unit have any other purpose than make the alarm diode flash?

Oki, Im chasing a ''double flash'' on the alarm diode. Only the diode on the passenger side door works.

Acc. to the owners manual the manual the ''double flash'' means central locking failure?

This is from the 1991 owners manual:

If the LEDs do not flash when the car is
locked or change to a double-flashing signal
after 10 seconds, not all of the alarm con-
tacts have been closed.

The following components are monitored by
the alarm:
• Doors (central door locking system)
• Engine- and luggage-compartment lids
• Glove compartment
• Radio
• Ignition

Correct. All is closed. I havent connected my diagnostics yet. I will check the what is bothering the system. One thing is for sure, the drivers door does not flash at all.

And, sometimes, only sometimes, when I lock the drivers door it locks and immediately unlocks. Then I have to lock it from the pax door.

You can connect a Bosch hammer and read out the alarm "fail to arm" details. It will tell you exactly what it thinks is open. The alarm will still be functional but will ignore the one that cased the problem. This is only available on the newest alarm module.

I have never heard the alarm go off on my car. Is there a way to test it for functionality without breaking into the car?

Wind down the windows - lock/arm the car - reach in unlock the door with the **** - open door... the features monitored vary by year - but always include doors & hatch. Some include hood, radio (2 ways), glove box
