Default LS3 swap

Hello, I have followed these boards for a while, but not posted. I did some searching and could not find any info on this and was hoping someone here could. I bought an LS swap kit from Renegade Hybrids to install an LS3 in my 1984 Porsche 928. I am pretty good with mechanical stuff and have rebuilt a few engines over the years. However, I am struggling with the finishing details. Mainly the cooling line routing, fuel lines, power steering, and final wiring. I was wondering if anyone on here has done this and could possibly give me some input. I have reached out to Renegade MULTIPLE times and to say they are not helpful is an understatement. Great people and a high quality kit, but they do not have any instructions and are not helpful with answering questions.

Rather than muddy this up with a bunch of random questions, I will start with one. Can anyone help me with the fuel line routing? I got a zip lock bag with connectors and a fuel regulator, but I have no idea what lines to hook up to them. I know the fuel supply and return lines on my Porsche are on the firewall on the passenger side. I am pretty sure there is 1 feed and 2 returns.

I really appreciate any help you can give me.

There have been a few high quality builds on here, including Just Peachy (Tony's car) and a couple of others. Find those threads and reach out to those guys. They will be very helpful. Post pictures too. Not my choice, but I like a good quality build too.

One of the threads I've found to have a huge amount of useful information is XSChop's build thread here: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...8-ls-tech.html

That said, the Just Peachy build that Linderpat mentioned is an amazing, no holds barred build and has a LOT of useful information as well.

I'm not in a position to help (yet) but I am very interested in such conversions. Can you tell me what gearbox and torque tube you are using?

So just for some background on this, the car was originally bought brand new by my parents and was then handed down to me a few years ago. This was the first car I ever drove sitting on my dad's lap and also took it to my first prom. My dad is 83 now and very excited to take a ride in it again, so I am trying to finish it up. The engine started to go, so I decided to drop an LS into it because I wanted more power and I just thought it would be a fun project. It has an LS3 from a 2008 Corvette and the transmission is a T56 from a 2001 Corvette Z06. The car also used to me a manual, so this has been a long project and it is all being done in my garage with floor jacks and hand tools.

I think I have the cooling routing figured out, but wanted to be sure. Also, I attached a picture of the 3 lines that I am pretty sure are the fuel lines. Thank you for all of your help!

Forgot to put this in my post below, but I got the transmission install parts from Carl at 928 Motorsports. The kit makes life A LOT easier and they custom size your Corvette torque tube to drop right into the Porsche.

Just a heads-up that there was a thread recently where there were big problems with Carl's Corvette torque tubes and their bearing installation. This was not an isolated case, and multiple customers had the same issue.

You should probably check yours now.

Thank you for the heads up! I will reach out to them to know what to look for on mine. I have not tightened up the rear end yet, so now would be a good time to check it out.

Hey Jordan, sounds like an interesting project. When done, I'd enjoy seeing it. Just bring it to Jake's in Old Town Saginaw along with your Dad (Alan).

Anyone have any help on the fuel system? I have done some searching and cannot find much. I think I have the coolant lines all ran, but have no idea how to route the fuel lines.

fuel system blow into the lines the one that is easy to put air into is the return.
OR
follow the lines,
one goes to the top of the tank in the hatch floor,
the other comes from the bottom of the tank and routs to the fuel pump

Note of caution: Get help with the fuel Iines if you dont know exactly what to do. Fuel injection line needs to be rated for high pressure / temperature and clamps need to be installed correctly over only beaded lines so they don't slip off. Seeing those two unbeaded fuel pipes makes me very queasy.

The 3 lines are probably a supply line ( usually the largest, return ( little bit smaller) and possibly an evap line for fuel vapors. The ls requires 58 psi to operate. What sort of regulator will you be using and where are you hooking up these lines? As for the cooling part the thermostat is the suction from the bottom of the radiator, the outlet is the stainless outlet going to the upper radiator. There is a steam vent that must be tied into the highest part of the cooling system and is needed for proper operation.
Are you using the stock gm power steering pump? That one is usually pretty easy , but the pressure line is going to be Porsche rack to gm pump. Be aware that the pumps can run hot and most have cooling built.
Are you going to use an aftermarket harness for the ls3 or factory? Either way it’s pretty simple , although getting proper power from a 928 fuse panel is the problem. I would suggest a separate fuse panel for the engine, and fuel pump as well as electric fans. Getting the engine in place is always the easy part, what you are doing now is much more time consuming and difficult. If

Yes if you are conecting to those you better get a fire system or great insurance for house and car. Does the kit come with fuel system parts? Did you source these on your own?
Were the fuel lines cut?

The comments about the fuel lines make me a little nervous. Those are the original ones from the factory. I have heard in the past about some fuel line problems in the past on these, maybe I should replace them back to the tank? I got an aftermarket wire harness to make things easier. I am not 100% sure how to hook up the fuel pressure and temperature sensor since the wire harness is made to hook up to the LS sensor and the kit I got from Renegade came with new sensors to work with the stock Porsche gauges, but that is a problem for another day.
