The guys answering your question on Facebook who insist that any good 911 mechanic can easily work on a 911, and that there is nothing special about 928's compared to 911's are very uninformed. There is a vast difference, and if the shop doesn't have the specific factory 928 shop manuals, I wouldn't use them at all. Otherwise you are paying for someone to learn on your car. And it is an expensive tuition. There are many unique systems in a 928. Plus it is a water cooled front engine car, versus air cooled rear engine car with far fewer electrical systems. Obviously they are vastly different. Stick with Stan (MrMerlin) or Pete, or one of the few others up that way that actually know how to work on 928's. I have a guy local to me who was a certified Porsche mechanic from a dealer back in the day, and who learned on and worked on 928's among other Porsches. These guys are out there, but continue to do your homework. I think I read on Facebook that you are looking to have the wire harness redone, and some other major stuff - vacuum lines, etc. If these are done wrong, you'll have issues that will be very hard to trace and fix. Also, Stan and PEte know which places to get the right parts for your car.

I'll second the recommendations for Stan (Mrmerlin). Extremely knowledgeable and caring for the cars and owners. You are fortunate to have that class of resources so readily available.
Ed (Linderpat) is spot-on with the advice on "... any good 911 mechanic ...". My early stewardship experience with those experts drove me to dust off the tools and take care of the car myself. I took the car to the local-to-me dealer in Pasadena, who had a genuine senior factory-trained 928 mechanic on staff, for a follow-up timing belt tension check. The casual collateral damage done by the not-that-guy who actually did the work was too significant to ignore. Now, over twenty years and close to 100k later, here we are.

I 100% agree. Stan is aces. He knows the cars inside and out and does the job right. Good guy and dedicated to keeping these cars going.
I do mostly my own maintenance, but he's done the big stuff beyond my skills(complete A/C rebuild, new shocks and motor mounts) and oversaw a group project in my garage to do an intake refresh.
Stan, if you ever move back to Colorado I promise my wife will make you more chocolate chip cookies.
