I just had a crazy idea, would a set of the porsche cayenne rims fit a 928? They are 18 inch rims 8 inches wide and an offset of 57mm. Let me know what you guys think?

I was wondering how long it would take for this question to pop up.

I thought about this, but even if it clears the calipers, 8" and 57mm puts the wheel out about 3/4" towards the fender in the front. I don't think it will work. That same offset with a 7" rim will fit -I tried on some boxster wheels that did fit (17x7 55mm, 17x8.5 50mm). It was a little tight, but no rubbing. But the right offset for the front everyone says will make the car steer and handle the best.

Maybe Jim would say... "If you can squueeze a relay between the tire and the fender lip..."

Do they have the same bolt pattern as the standard 5x130? I have been wondering the same thing because they wheels come up cheap all the time on ebay, and if they fit I may give them a run on my 951......
But the VW and Porsche SUV share the same bolt pattern, so did they use a porsche or VW set up, or did they go with something new, IIRC VW uses 5x112 or 5x120....

( WWJBS ) ? Cayenne wheel is 5x130 bolt pattern so as usual it is offset WHICH DETERMINES what fits and what does not . The 8x16 front wheel club sport with a 60 mm offset works with a 225 tire so Porsche has used less than the standard 65 mm front offset . The 7.5x17 factory GTS wheel is on a 65 mm offset so compared to the C S wheel 8 inch 60 mm the GTS has 5 mm more of inset and is 1/2 inch narrower or 1/4 inch for each side so about 6 mm plus 5 mm of fender lip clearance ....11 mm . That basically means there is at least 11 mm which can be taken up by running the "wrong" offset and still be within a factory clearance as used on the CS 928 (with flat fender lips rolled at the factory). So a 7 inch front rim 1/2 inch narrower than the GTS front wheel is another 6 mm of lip clearance which added to the 11 mm means about 17 MM of clearance can be used to fit wheels with the "wrong" offset .........That means Porsche rims(5x130 bolt pattern) in size 7x17 with an offset of 65 mm to as little as 48 mm should clear the front fender BUT always remember that with wider rims every inch wider takes away 1/2 inch from the fender clearance as does wider tires on the same rim . It also explains how some people (shops) have mounted the 8 inch S-4 rear wheels on the front on a 928 and not noticed . The S-4 rear 8 inch with 52.3 mm offset has the outer wheel lip 18.7 mm closer to the fender so it is just a bit too much especially with a 245 tire . Moving the center of the wheel in or out does have some affect on the dynamics of braking and toe change as you move the point on which the tire pivots around the "contact patch" but YMMV ........ thanks ED RUIZ
