New Clutch and Strange Pedal Behavior

I just replaced the the whole clutch(Clutch plate, Pressure plate, TO Bearing, the fork) in my 93 GTS.
Now I have a new issue. There is a new behavior in the way the pedal travels. Even after I adjusted per the manuals the pedal will go a quarter of the way down and stay there (like a detent) and then if I continue applying pressure the pedal goes the floor and back to this same position. Pretty weird to me. If I overadjust the pedal rod the issue goes away. But, that is not right.
Is there a step I missed along the way?

Tib - I don't know if you replaced any of the items in the clutch hydraulic circuit (master, slave, etc..) but it sounds like you may need to bleed the clutch circuit or you have a leak somewhere in the clutch circuit. Make sure your brake fluid reservoir is filled first. If it isn't, start looking for leaks. The only time I've experienced a clutch pedal that does not return to its original position is when my clutch slave cylinder started leaking enough to drain the brake fluid level below the clutch master cylinder. let us know what you find, or if you have more questions. Good Luck!

Nope, just the clutch and its associated parts. Did bleed the slave. No air was present.

Simple stuff first: make sure the slave's piston rod is well-seated in the release arm. Make sure the slave is not leaking.
Adjust the pedal back to where it was before you did the clutch job.
Open the slave's valve under pressure, let some fluid bleed, close the valve, mash the pedal. Later, rinse, repeat until the clutch feels normal. Expect to do that three to five times. If after several applications it doesn't feel normal then look for other failure modes.
