if one has high standards for a 928 buy, and they are patient, they’re typically getting bargains now.

Ok GT6ixer we spent some time breaking out the auto/manuals, should be automated going forward. If we misplaced any, just shoot me a note. Not surprisingly, some big variations.

You'll see each of the sub-markets in the boxes above the search results:

928 S - https://www.classic.com/search/?q=928+s
928 S4 - https://www.classic.com/search/?q=928+s4
928 GTS - https://www.classic.com/search/?q=928+gts

We didn't break out the 1986.5 (technical reasons) but we did comment on that in the description for the 928S. Regardless, you can see the price difference in the years chart.

Hope that helps!

Ok, random & slightly nit-picky thought:

For US models, there was no "S" from 80-82. The first US "S" was in 83.

Also, combining the 80-82 'non-S' with the 83 & 84 "S" is probably more 'correct' than including the 85 & 86 "S3". S3 was never an official designation from Porsche, but the 85 & 86 US had the first 32v motor and are substantially different from anything earlier. Lots of folks refer to them as "S3" to denote the differences. The S3 32v motor is also substantially different from the S4 32v.

The 80-82 had a 4.5l, while the 83 & 84 had a 4.7l, but both were 16v, with the 'spider' intake. Power was pretty similar. They both had the same electronic fuel injection (L-Jet), as opposed to the mechanical K-jet that was in the 78 & 79 (and Euro cars through 83).
