New Garage floor
Finally sprung for a decent floor for the garage and back room.
Since retirement, extensive messy projects are unlikely but not ruled out so I'll get some kind of heavy mat if the need arises.
And I can finally get the GTS inside!!
Its PVC which I'm told may discolor from tire treads so I used brown tile for the tracks.
20" x 20" tiles. Some prep to get it the floor flat but install was painless and quick.

Looking good!
I will warn you the great new floors seem to get dirty a lot faster. In my experience anyway.

I agree with Bob. Mine in the Hobby Garage is now 15 years old, even with moderate care, it (stained concrete with clear coat) still got stained in the area where the lift is and almost all the service work is done. Rob - your floor is beautiful - well done.

I am SO jealous! That looks awesome!
The floor in my workshop is currently covered with scattered bentonite kitty litter to soak up the gear oil that my wife's Subaru puked all over the place.
Then again, with the way things get so dirty when I work on cars, maybe simple painted concrete is better for my purposes.

My research showed either the high end porcelain or epoxy for the best protection and look. I didn't want to pay for porcelain or do the prep work for epoxy.

Looking at all of that fine work you did on the floor,
and the rest of the very cool wall decorations,
along with all of the great work bench areas,
I would say it looks like your ready to do more interior work?

Thanks for the kind words Stan.
I'm under a non compete agreement for non personal interior work. Anyway there's other endeavors I want to get into.
Some traveling, perhaps pick up a pre ww2 vehicle to restore, fiddle with artwork collecting mounting, framing(read this as pinups).

To be honest, even just doing the area under the hoist (about 60 square feet) is a little hard for me to justify in the current economic environment.

I hear you, but the whole workshop is about 275 square metres (almost 3000 square feet). That amount of porcelain or even epoxy flooring is way beyond my price range.

Bob,
Nice job on the garage transformation! Love the "wall art", it looks like a great place for detail work or as a relaxing spot for a cool one with friends!
PVC is a great choice for light duty floors,. Durable enough for most things, but slightly softer underfoot and warmer than concrete.
I am contemplating LifeProof vinyl flooring for my next building as a friend installed it in the display area of his Car Cave and he wishes he had also put it in the mechanical area (where he does his own service work.
Enjoy!
