LA, San Diego group, how about meeting in Phoenix?
That is certainly the most efficient route. However, early discussions here have us talking about heading up Denver way on a long first day. Some in the group have friends/relatives there and prefer that hop from Bakersfield & Vegas starting points, others (mainly me) do not want to be bored out of their minds on I-40 East again as I was in 2000.

Sure, it was fun hooking up with Ken Christensen (928x4 or x5?) and his wife, but we drove like grannies for hours at a time for fear of the ubiquitous fuzz.

Hey Rich, I still tell people about my 2000 Wichita drive through Phoenix when I stopped to meet you for lunch. It was 110 outside and me WITHOUT A/C was coping with what had to be 140 in the car. On no sleep because of last minute Up-Fixin' of der Porsche, that was something.

By the way, the road you suggested I take northeast out of downtown Phoenix (was it 87?) was truly excellent. Great suggestion.

We are trying to get a convoy from the PacNW together too..

I suspect we will head down through central Washington, through Oregon, on the way to Salt Lake. From there we'll likely head to Denver (I-70) and then on to Witchita.....

Going to be a couple of long days for us.

We can pick up our Eastern Washington bretheren in Utah..and probably even hook up with the Oregon guys near there too...

Later,
Tom

For anyone along the route from the New England area, I intend to do a tow the day or two prior to the event.

If anyone has a "light" two car trailer to lend me that doesn't require a fifth wheel, I would consider bringing both mine and David Lloyd's car.

I don't suspect any 928s will want to convoy with me (sniff sniff) as the tow will be at subsonic speeds.

If anyone gets to Tulsa and needs some help or just to chat, give me a call at 272-4140 (home) or 622-0414 (work).

John,

I will make it to Hallet but typically my weekends in July are tied up at work (annual inventory).

Yeah - we'll be with Dave Lloyd.

I don't think he *slowed* to subsonic speeds on the way OK last time.
You should see him hit the apexs with the 928 on the trailer.

Is JV towing too? How much would it cost to rent a big hauler and just do one BIG tow?

DL hasn't committed to towing that I know of. I think JV has a conflict so may not be able to attend. DL checked on the cost of transport, and it was prohibitive.
