Help. I've been struggling for quite awhile trying to post pics. I've finally figured out how to upload to the Rennlist site, and all was going well till I got the message my pic is too big - can only be max of 200 kb or something like that.
How do I know what size my pic is and how do I make it smaller? This is definately not my area of expertise.

Beth,
You have the pic saved as a file I assume. Go to your file management system and right click on the file, click properties, it will tell you the file size. I have made my files smaller by resizing them (smaller of course).

Load your picture using Microsoft Paint.
Click on "Image"
Click on "Stretch/Skew"
Enter the new % for horizontal an vertical (i.e., 50% for both).

There's also a great piece of freeware called IrfanView available at Tucows.com - relatively easy to sort out: for the simple stuff, a lot of the file may be reduced through simple cropping - then there's a one click option to reduce resolution/file size.

Bethy, as a Rennlist Member, you have your very own free web space that you can upload pictures to. Once they're loaded there, you can post the image URL into a topic here - never any size restrictions.
Here's the place to go to set up your free Rennlist web portal - it's easy, and fun!:

AHHHHHHHH - I successfully shrunk and uploaded my photos onto Rennlist - but where are they???? I can't find them now. So they've been uploaded but how do I get them into a post????
I'll have to check out that web page thing. And I think I be at Thunderhill, yes, with cookies.

Beth,
The shorthand method is: (remove the *)

Beth, sorry to hear of the loss.
I would have to strongly echo Garths statements about the "irfanview" program. It is free, and very user friendly. It re-sizes pictures easily, and shrinks the file sizes as well.
Much better than MS Paint.
You can also find it at www.download.com. I find download.com easier to use than 2cows.
Best regards,
Mike

Another great peice of software for resizing a bunch of pictures all at once is Mulitimedia Xplorer. Select your pictures then File, Convert. I usually use 800x600. Also does slide shows and other various photo organizing tasks.
It's now freeware at http://www.moonsoftware.com/mxplorer.asp.
