Altenator Belt installation question
Hi guys,
Last night was a bad one for my car. Within an hour of my brake pressure warning sensor going off, my altenator belt broke!!!!! My own fault for procrastinating on belt replacement...had a new altenator installed a month ago....new mechanic suggested belts are nearing end of their life but told me this AFTER he had completed the job. New mechanic - new lessons in what to ask BEFORE work is done. Suffice it to say I'm scheduling a timing belt replacement with the local Porsche shop TODAY!
(regarding that sensor....I replaced one sensor last weekend but couldn't replace the other due to the brake lines in the way....unplugged the old one and luckilly it was the old sensor going bad....whats the chances of BOTH sensors having problems in the same 7 days??? 25 year life on each!!!!)
BUT ANYWAY JUST VENTING..LET ME GET TO THE POINT:
I had to leave the car is at a Mobile service station since it was night time and my altenator belt broke. I was over two hours from home and driving the car was no longer an option. The mechanic has the belt on the way now and says the rest look ok. Is there anything a guy who has not worked on a 928 needs to know when doing a belt replacement on this vehicle? He looked at it and says he doesn't see anything unusual to cause him concern. As I mentioned above I had a competent guy (so I thought) work on the car recently and got burned. If there's anything special I need to tell this guy I have about one hour from now before the belt gets to the shop. Thanks in advance for any input!

Other than being the 3rd belt back, it's really straight forward: loosen and lay aside the air pump/fan belt and the P/S belt - and install. Take a close look at the other belts - pretty low $ to replace the rest at home on a Sat. afternoon.
