Default Tire pressure warning indicator

I just got 4 new tire installed on my 90gt and the Low pressure Warning is on for all four wheels? I checked the pressure and it’s right on the money, I disconnected the battery and they still come on? It was working fine on my old tires. Any ideas? Could the installer have done something?
thanks
Dan

A lot of owners have disabled the monitoring system due to it being finicky by installing a jumper on the connector near the dead pedal. Search is your friend as offhand I don't know which pins are jumped; nor the different scenarios that confuse the computer. For starters here, I would over inflate by 5-10 pounds on all four then bring each down to spec. Sometimes that satisfies the computer. YMMV.

I loved the tire presure warning on my 90GT.

Follow the instructions in the manual and they will NOT false go off. Think you air the tires to the low pressure then drive around the block. Then air them up to the high pressure then drive around the block. Then bleed them down to the set pressuures.

If the dealer or mehanic tried setting them with the hammer, they always went off in a couple of weeks. If set acccording to thr manual, they only went off when a tire got low, ie. 30 psi.

You cannot change the set pressure with a hammer, in fact you can't do anything functional. There is only one predetermined set pressure (no high or low range). The system was impressive when first launched (in that it was actually available) - but today is virtually useless with the fixed set point and wheel hub mounted sensors meaning newer larger wheels or even just better rubber that doesn't need to be rock hard can't be accommodated. BTW I can tell you the supposed temperature compensation doesn't work very well for high ambient temperatures (mine would frequently alert in the morning but be fine in the afternoon).

Modern wireless in-tire monitoring systems allow setting your alert and alarm set points (often also high & low ranges) for both pressure and temperature (no analog temperature compensation needed) - and many will give you real time pressure and temperature readouts per tire - much more useful info. So IMO you are much better off with a replacement system.

There's a warning in the WSM not to apply more than 6 bar when fitting new tyres. Some places do this to pop the tyres onto wheel, so if they've been sloppy it's possible they've ruptured the diaphragms in all 8 sensors. Unlikely, but I'm trying to fathom what could have gone wrong. Are the arrows on the 'tyre pressure low' display flashing or solid?

TPMS are a curse ..... At some point almost all of them become nightmares $$$.... Who ever decided that these should be mandatory in 2007 should be hung off a bridge .

I followed the procedure in the owners manual and they now work fine!
