Actually, I wonder if one of the clutch disks is stuck to the intermediate plate and when I push the clutch pedal it's staying that way. The pedal itself feels fine, I can't tell a difference, so it's moving something around, but perhaps not separating both discs? Not sure what to do about it save drop the lower bell housing, dammit...

And yes, that is exactly what it was. We've had a ton of rain, so sitting there in high humidity not moving the discs and plates started to rust together. They ended up popping free simply by clutch in, put it in 5th, clutch out (not running) and let gravity do the work (I'm on a bit of an incline).

I also have an 86.5 with a very similar problem. My car will run then just shut off. I have read closely through this post and am very curious if not anxious to find out the final solution. I have tried a new MAF, CPS, complete engine out detox and reseal. I expected upon the startup to not have the issue anymore and unfortunately it is still there. Still looking for the solution.

If you've never refurbed (or at least tested) the LH and EZF, it might be a good idea to send them out. That seems to be what ultimately fixed my problem. You may as well try the coil wires first though. Greg indicated he's seen bad coil wires cause this type of problem, and that's a pretty cheap and painless potential remedy.

This guy has been chasing an intermittent issue with his Ferrari for ages, some spark testers and a couple of GoPro’s found the issue

I saw that! Anyone know if there are any spark testers like he used that work with our cars? I've never seen anything like that.

This looks like them:

Might not fit on the plug but might be rigged to fit somewhere nearer the distributor cap.
