Not to highjack this thread but..... Minor resto and clean up has turned into a major project. It will be CLEAN when I'm done!
Rear suspension, gas tank and rear bumper cover all removed. Suspension removed to clean/paint underside of the car and clean rear suspension crossmember, struts and control arms. Gas tank removed to clean the 26 years of gunk out of it. Rear bumper cover removed to clean behind it and check for rust at the mounting points on rear fenders. Except for the gas tank, so far so good........ Stay tuned.

Chuck-
Out of curiosity, how did you get the car up so high on those jack stands?? Does it seem stable? Looks a bit scary for me, but if others are confident doint it, maybe I'll give it a try. (For those who know me, I need a few extra inces of ground clearance to get uder the car

Bill and Heinrich,
Thanks, wait until you see it in person. If it weren't for some of the corroded bolts, bare aluminum bits, undercoating and filthy gas tank it would look show room new. I'm making it better than that. This thing is absolutely amazing! I'm like a young kid with his first car, I am SO excited about this 928.
Anderw,
Yes, it is rock solid stable the jack stands are VERY stout and extremely sturdy. I wouldn't get underneath if they weren't. I have worked on 4 or 5 928s in this posititon. I jack the car by the front cross member and rear cross member (separately of course) to get it in this position. Plenty of room underneath for those of us in need of a little more ground clearance (I have really long arms). Short of having a lift, it works great!
