Default Lower latch pin switch

I've just replaced a missing pin switch on the lower latch assembly but I am not sure how to secure the switched ground wire. Do I crimp the open sleeve at the bottom of the switch pin onto bare wire? Thanks in advance for any guidance.

It fits in between the pin switch and latch housing.

The switched ground wire is the Brown/White wire, connected at the end (crimped). The Ground - Brown wire can go as shown OR can go to a chassis ground point.

Thanks Majestic Moose! That's what I envisioned.
Can you also help me understand the function of that thin metal piece adjacent to the pin switch? Is it a protective shield of some sort? On mine it appears to have been bent out of position or partially broken. I can bend it easily if necessary.

That is the actual switch terminal part - when the latch is shut it does not connect to ground (e.g. the frame of the receiver).
