From the time I acquired my S4, I have been saving Rennlist posts. I currently have about 1500 threads, organized by subject on about 150 topics that I think may be useful now or during my ownership in the future.. My technique saves the entire post, including the photos (even those with multiple pages) in one HTML file, automatically captions the post with the thread title and even preserves the hotlinks within the posts to external sites. I use 2 Chrome extensions, Autopagerize and Save As MHT. Very simple to use and takes only a second to save the thread. I have backed up the files so if I lose them in a HD crash, I can easily recover them from my thumbdrive. If you are at all concerned with the future of Rennlist, I would encourage you to start saving the threads that are relevant to you now. If I was better at HTML coding, I would merge the threads where necessary and edit out all the "I like pie" posts. Maybe someday.

Thanks for the tool suggestions. Make sure the work needed to get the info into "just right" format for storage is less than doing the work described in the saved thread. Unless you get paid for the work, it's a labor of unrequited love. Thet love also needs to be greater than the improvement realized in archiving whole threads, and keeping backups of the archives. Plus a good retrieval system. I regularly remind clients who have elaborate backup systems that they really need to start with the idea of easy information retrieval as the Prime Directive. That may include operational recovery after a disaster or worse. Just storing stuff is a fraction of the mission. And thumb drives should never be considered more than a convenient temporary transit mechanism. Yes, we can often save data from corrupted USB drives. But not all the time, and never the really valuable mission-critical stuff. Redundant virtualization in the cloud crowd is sometimes worth considering for non-secure requirements.
