Default $40 spark plug wires

I would think this has been done but I couldnt find a post so I'll share. I wanted new spark plug wires for my CIS hot rod motor but wanted 8mm and colored wires to be racy looking. Also and probably especially I didn't want to pay $200+ for them. I got high quality 8mm universal Chevy wires from Jegs, the kind you cut and crimp on the distributor end. I got the right angle spark plug end. I removed the rubber boot from the old 928 wires and cut it down a little shorter as shown in the first picture so the new angle boot would fit in it. If I were to do it again I would probably order the straight boot ends, there is room under the intake manifold and you could probably use the boots without cutting them. for the distributor end I took some screw on ends from a used set of spark plugs and screwed them on each distributor terminal, they are the same thread. Second picture shows all the wires installed except one showing the spark plug end on the distributor terminal. This then allows you to use the standard old distributor crimp on and and boot shown in the next picture. The end snaps on the distributor now and the boot is a perfect fit. I will do this to my 928 next time it needs wires.

Jegs PN

555-40201

Next time I will try the straight plug ends PN

555-40200

these are the red wires. they have different colors if you go to Jegs and search "8mm universal plug wires" there are at least blue and grey colors as well, maybe more.
